Of aviators , sarees & Autos

Good evening my blueberries,
Yes I've accomplished shooting on the second day as well,expect late night post everyday!
So its Day 2 today and how could ignore our desi avtars which we all like to don once in a blue moon. So all my ladies don't be afraid to experiment with Indian wear this season(or ever)!
Some quick tips for your favourite fusion that will make you stand out:
·       Grab that old saree that has seen the sunlight for days now ,turn to your darzi and have a lovely jacket .
·       Look out for antique jewellery pieces and pair them with your chic dresses & don’t worry incase one f the earring are missing wear them as brooch instead and build your outfit around it!
·       Drape your saree differently,wear them over your favourite cigarette pants or wear a jacket over it.this is what I've done for today's  outfit.
Disclaimer: Sorry if you get a l'il dhink chak vibe here, we tried a little something new!
Background score please :
*TASHAN MEIN*
We tried a front drape with a long halter top over pants(for a better mobility, you know you are going to dance and you want to be hands free).
I traded my traditional pair of earring for a modern pattern. An alternate choice is ear cuffs that ‘ll instantly glam  up the attire. I draped the pallu in the front by making a fn mess and putting it together with a brooch. There’s nothing in India as too much colour but I want to make everything put together with my nude heels.
We think anybody can rock this look play up with different drapes and don’t neglect Indian wear we’ve endless possibilities.
The next post is decided and expect the unexpected!
Heartfelt thanks to Imran bhai for letting us use  the Auto!
Do let us know if you hate the pictures anyway: P

The Invisible Crown

The festive season is here and so is our biggest woe of all times.
What do we wear?
All that holiday snacking us has taken its toll !
Yes it shows through my favourite pieces. Well there nothing to fret while we adopt the laws of attraction in our pieces. We shall be showcasing 6 different styles each day this entire week or mostly every alternate day (Hopefully I'll keep up with the schedule). And you shall have enough outfit idea and pieces to pick up, this is not limited to my curvy ladies my leggy lasses can pick up their share of bits and pieces too. Dressing up is all about making it your OWN.
Enough of the gyaan,kaam ki baat yeh hain ki "The outfit ideas shall also help you the X'mas Giveaway that we have planned .We'll be asking you question from our post and you know where you can find the answers. So get on it connect with us on Facebook ,Twitter , and Pintrest.

Today we have paired an all time favourite Holiday piece our maxi dress and paired it up sans jewellery and elaborate hair. We chose this maxi dress because of it simple texture, colour that works for both day and night  (fyi that takes away from my size), the ruched bandeau emphasizes the attention to the bosom. Its a great cover-up as empire line hides all that tummy and thigh. Opt for a maxi this season if your problem areas are tummy and thighs and if you've great arms and a neckline. I chose a head accessory instead of any jewellery but you can chose anything from delicate earring to just a big statement necklace.
The makeup is a bronze smokey eye paired up with  fuschia pink lipgloss.
p.s.I'm not really a lipgloss person but for holidays I make an exception :P Notice how this smokey eye is without any hard liner well that gives us a chance to flaunt our lashes. Also it make your eyes look bigger.
We have an ample of head accessories to choose from but I was indecisive between two piece one being the chunky hair band I made ,you can make your own  or pair it with a slimmer headband with a bow that gives it a more of a romantic finish.

Can’t wait to post the next look already.Do let us know if you want the tutorial on makeup.
We really  hope you all keep up with us ,we need your love
(C’mon Look at all these balloons, basically were out of breath ) .Stay Chic!

Diwali Special : Men's edition and Contest

Good morning my gulab jamuns ,first of all I had like to wish you all a very happy diwali .May you have a prosperous and joyous year ahead.
India follows a pattern when it comes to party ,I couldn’t help but relate to this post on Hindustan Times,”
Get dressed, drive through insane traffic, arrive at party, have a great time (hopefully), drink a lot, go home, crash. And get ready for the next one. Partying gains a completely new meaning during the festive season. Diwali do’s are like parties on steroids: overdressed, marigold-choked. But there are many different kinds of parties. And if you are looking on how to survive them. Read on here :anatomy of diwali parties "

On the this opportunity I would also like to announce a diwali hamper giveaway for the best dresses.The contest is open to all  provided you are citizens of India and above 16 .Start sharing your pictures on the wall with your name ,age and what did you do this diwali ?

As for those of  you mundas that are still hunting for that perfect last minute outfit to impress the ladies or your boyfriends .
Here's a quickie. Before I get too deep into a conceited and poisonous rant about the lack of festival fashion for guys, I will make one submission  I had hordes of men asking me where all the men’s clothing was. Some pointer to remember while choosing your ensemble for the evening:

Your best bets are tailored or customised clothing; you know you can never go wrong with them. But fret not if you haven’t decided already start digging into your dad & grandfather closet. Certainly that bow-tie from 60's or those Nehru jackets are your best festival finds.

We all do things at  festivals we regret, please Make sure your choice of footwear doesn't compact the shame of having a snooze  Whether it's a trusty pair of Vans, uber-comfortable sneakers or stylish-yet-still-practical leather sandals, protect your feet with closed-in shoes. You can never be too careful when it comes to fire-crackers.

Now some quick outfits Yashvardhan put together for you guys :

Outfit 1: Put your look together with a nehru jacket/waist-coat and square chief.

Outfit 2: Stick with that basic kurtas of yours, don’t limit borrowing clothes just to father and fore fathers,
we suggest go raid on your sisters patialas and give your look an traditional touch with mojhris or kolphuris.I suggest you can even get away with a lungi here(Risk wearing lungis only of your not handling crackers :P )

Outfit 3: Go back to BLACK if everything fails. A suit can never go wrong and if its’ black even better. This outfit will take you places and the transition is super easy for those hopping at several parties tonight.

Outfit 4 : That sherwani has been sitting there too long at the back of your closet ,time to show it a l’il love.Pair it up with denims if you find the churidar pants too restricting. This is your chance  to go high on bling factor.

We hope you have a rough idea running through your head what to wear .My OOTD post coming up next.Stay safe and stay chic!

XOXO

Pop art meets Comic Imagery LOTD

Yes another of mine late night post kittens   J
I had to get real crafty this Halloween and what happens when one doesn’t have a costume and gets invited to this flamboyant party (well your boy is going to be there so we might just call it fab as well!).The Pop Art Makeup looks are well known for the bold primary colors, exaggerated contours and lots of Ben-Day dots. Now the question arise what exactly are  Ben-day dots? The Ben-Day dots  printing process, named after illustrator and printer Benjamin Henry Day, Jr. is a technique dating from 1879.Depending on the effect, color and optical illusion needed, small colored dots are closely spaced, widely spaced or overlapping. Magenta dots, for example, are widely spaced to create pink. Pulp comic books of the 1950's and 1960's used Ben-Day dots in the four process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) to inexpensively create shading and secondary colors such as green, purple, orange and flesh tones.They are visually striking, fun to do and wear and highly appreciated for a fashion project, a costume party or a Halloween character design.
 The Comic Book Character Makeup that I’m about to give you points on is an eccentric look and calls for great confidence and an open mind towards makeup and art in general.

When creating a Pop Art Makeup design, you want to look like you just stepped out of a Comic Book. Lichtenstein’s heroines are generally used for inspiration and guidance to achieve this look.
His best known works, such as Drowning Girl, the M-Maybe Girl and the Ohhh…Alright… Girl are Comic Book Characters from “Run For Love!” DC Comics and are considered Pop Art icons and a constant source of inspiration for Pop Art Makeup looks.
Lichtenstein’s post-1963 comics-based women look hard, crisp, brittle, and uniformly modish in appearance, as if they all came out of the same pot of makeup.
The look calls for certain elements, as portrayed by Lichtenstein’s heroines:
·         Thick outlines;
·         Scketched mimical expressions;
·         Bold & vibrant colors;
·         Applied art;
·         Patterns;
·         Ben-Day dots, as if created by photographic reproduction;
·         Large zones of flat colors;
·         High contrast between the subject and the back ground;
·         Comical, decorative, fashionable and fanciful technical manner.
In Pop art, material is sometimes visually removed from its known context, isolated or combined with unrelated material. The concept of pop art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it, and although the art itself might be considered eccentric, its interpretation calls for undemanding social observations.
·    What are the key elements that give the uniqueness of Pop Art?
·    When examining pop art images, you’ll find there are several key elements that tie these seemingly unrelated art pieces together, and for our purpose – mashing them into a Pop Art Character Makeup – it is essential to decipher and adapt them to your design.

Not the first time I’ve seen images of make up like this but I think it looks awesome. I’ve noticed a growing trend of artists trying to make real life look like pictures rather than making pictures that look like real life. I really Like this image and I just wanted to share it.

Also today I’ve tried doing a full faced tutorial and I shot everything on the front camera cellphone :P So apologies for the quality.

1.I've started with clean moisturised face. This look is to achieve that stepped out of the comic book look. Hence a clear skin is must .The foundation lies in well moisturised face.

2.Next I use the Garnier BB cream,you can use a foundation if you want .I rarely use foundations.

3. I use a flat top foundation brush from my Coastal Scents kit and use it to buff the loose powder on my entire face.

4.Using the camouflage palette from Coastal Scents I use the 2 concealers that I’m pointing to highlight and conceal any spots on my face.

Okay now starts the fun part.I’ve personally used a liner and face paint for my face.I know you’re all great at face  painting and have won competitions but trust me you do tend to get shaky so a steady hand use your pinky finger to rest all your weight. Even a better option get a friend along ,you could do each other makeup and go as the twin!

5.Contour your eyebrows with a liquid liner and a brush, striving to achieve sharp edges. If you need to perfect the edges, use a Q tip dipped in cleanser or concealer.
6. After you achieved perfectly contoured eyebrows in an angled 50s shape, use the same eyeliner applicator or brush to draw a line down the center of your nose, on one side of the bridge of the nose and around the nostrils.  Thick outlines are a characteristic so don’t worry if your outlines are slick.

Basically we are going to highlight all the highpoints on our face.
7. Your eyes and lips will be only areas (except the dots, ofcourse) where you’ll have bold & vibrant flat colors, so choose a color blocking shade and apply it with hard edge.So I chose a purple and a pink eyeshadow for my eyes.I really wanted them to pop. Your another set of friendly options are neon greens,vibrant oranges or turquoise.

8. Next I drew some fake lashes on my lower lids. You could wear falsies too ,whereas in the parallel universe I’ve to wash everything and go to sleep after this :P No editing here cos I wanted you to see my lashes clearly.Fill i
n your lips with a bold red and add white for that 3 dimensional luscious effect.

9.We are one step closer to ending this. Patience girl, time to place  your Ben-days dots .I asked Sanky to do it for me he used red face paint and the end of a brush ,we stopped halfway to achieve a gradual spread effect.You should definitely add a wig  preferably yellow or red :)
Voila!You are ready to rock this look.

·         I personally enjoy a mix of  vintage & pop art and  if you are one of those archetypal treasure hunters you'll like it too. I had so much fun shooting for this LOTD and I hope it really does make you smile and you try it.
I’ll be back very soon doodles. Till then,
Stay Chic
