Of Wraps, Curves and Double Chins!

After having being featured in FashionPro’s first article Desi Girls with curves you must follow on Instagram(which I’m absolutely ecstatic about),Fashion Pro Team asked me to do write an article on my dress that would look great on curvy women.

The wrap dress is the most traditional form of dressing: It's like a robe, it's like a kimono, it's like a toga. It doesn't have buttons or zippers. What made it different was that it was jersey; therefore, it was close to the body and it was a print. And the first one was animal print so it made every woman look like a feline.

Diane Von Furstenberg created it in 1974 as an alternative to suits and it’s been a fashion favorite very since. Why? It defines the waist, lifts the bust and gives every woman a fantastic hourglass figure.

Some great to work up the wrap dress for plus size girl:

1. If you are not planning to wear hose and want to keep things looking smooth, wear some shapewear like Spanx to eliminate any panty lines, bumps and bulges.

2. Some wrap dresses have a tendency to come open at the top. Make sure that you buy the correct size or wear a camisole underneath. I find that the non-lace ones look better with this tailored look.

3. If you are not that busty, this is a great time to have some fun with a pretty padded push up bra!

4. You can layer a cardigan or jacket over a wrap dress for a different look. I own 3 wrap dresses and think a wrap is the perfect dress for almost anything. You can wear a wrap to work, dress it up or down with accessories and also wear one out on a date. It’s very versatile and always looks great. Plus, it travels like a dream. It’s lightweight you can throw it in your bag and it’s always so comfy because it’s made of its soft jersey silk fabric.

5.  Shoes? A heel looks best. The formality of the print and the size of print will dictate the thickness of the heel.  The wilder the print, the chunkier  you can go with the heel . That means you can do anything from a more delicate heel to a wedge.

6. Wrap dresses look wonderful with jewelry. A long necklace or short one works. Bracelets or cuffs look especially great on 3/4 length sleeve wrap dresses.

    

    

                                                                                      

     

     

I wore mine from DOROTHY PERKINS paired with a simple tibetian choker I bought while travelling and these super high but comfortable wedges from Forever21 ! Buying a print wrap dress is a great way to conceal and even accentuate curves - so be mindful of where the print is located on your body figure.

The one I’m wearing in post is definitely comfortable but easily slides up the ass. Here’s all that you need to know about the wrap dress.
While the wrap is certainly good for traveling - it's compact and doesn't wrinkle — more often than not when I wear one I'm left feeling lumpy and exposed, and rather than striding around with liberating 1970s confidence, I find myself self-consciously tugging and adjusting the low neckline and skimpy skirt, and find that sitting down is an ordeal. Where, yes, a wrap works with curves, it also slides between breasts in a conspicuous fashion and the belt can cut in a way that's less than flattering to anyone with any flesh at all. What's more, a cami can spoil the line - not to mention show under the unforgiving jersey - and I've often been at the mercy of fashion tape, safety pins and even last-minute tacking. But What a good shapewear won’t tackle ?So yes more than often I try and look for a wrap dress that not made of Jersey material and has a longer.

Unlike pretty much anything else we wear, our jewellery is filled with emotion.  While clothes express our personality and self-image through colour and style, and hair or makeup reflect what we want the world to think of us, jewellery works very differently.

It can uniquely bring back memories of an event, a person, a time in life or even a mood.  The closest thing we can think of with the same power is music. As jewellery has become more affordable and accessible, buying it has become a more everyday experience, with less thought put into buying it than used to be the case.  We think that’s an acceptable price to pay for the ability to buy jewellery more often, but nevertheless, it would be a shame if we lost sight of the emotion involved in jewellery. 

This is all part of the shift towards more affordable jewellery in recent decades. By bringing it in to clothing stores rather than jewellers, the retail fashion industry has made jewellery part of the “uniform” that the fashion-conscious adopt, and want to change from season to season.

This dress is proof that outfits don't have to have a million pieces to make a statement!

While I'm a firm believer that most outfits look best with 3 pieces to keep them interesting, sometimes (ahem, ALL SUMMER), it's just way too hot for that kind of thinking! This dress is my perfect 5 minute bargain find from streets of Colaba and is labeled Old Navy(Double Whammy!).
I pair up this really comfortable skater dress with my metallic brogues from Wanderlust from KOOVS and add a choker ,layering up from this gorgeous piece from MADE FOR YOU.

When Shaifali approached me I thought it was just another run in the mill industrial cut pendant but well all that lather in my head cleared up she explained how these pendants were handmade by her. We are seeing the endless promotion of handlooms and well anything handmade so why not just dedicate 5 mins of your precious day and adore how beautiful actually her penance goes into making that very intricate pendant. Trust me she is much more of a gem of a person in real and it reflects in her designs genuinely!The pendants are very reasonably priced and can be customsed to your liking of fonts,languages  or shapes.

My makeup comprises of no foundation look but I never forget my colour corrector for my raccoon eyes and concealer from KRYOLAN. I contoured my cheeks and chin to give more of leaner look (well you know how that works)! A thick no winged liner sans any eye shadow and I ‘m wearing a colorbar Matte lipstick. The hair was obviously transpired by my chokers and Sanky gave me a half bun look and waved the rest of my hair.

 Also Flashing these very pretty metallic flash tattoos to sync in with my brogues.

And Can I just talk about how pretty is this newly opened café?They have the most amazing filter kaapi and that’s the greatest attraction for me,such a sublime contrast to the interiors. THE MAD HAIR SCIENTIST(TMHS) as I call Sanky, is the male's guide to life in the big city . 

Since I can recall, a print is a print! It doesn’t matter if it is polka dots, stripes, birds, or a collection of flowers. Too many guys associate flower prints with the female wardrobe, and we’d like to set the record straight. When worn in the right manner, which means with comfort, confidence, and charisma.The flower print is not only in style, but is a big fashion trend for 2016.

When it comes to wearing floral prints, it can be quite an art to be able to pull off such a feat. For example, you can look rather suave yet fun, or you can end up looking like you’re experiencing some form of life crisis on the way to Hawaii. Here’s my quick tutorial on why floral prints are an important asset in men’s fashion and why you shouldn’t write them off just yet.

Often mistaken these days as a tool to any middle-aged holiday-maker’s suitcase, there are various ways you can successfully wear floral print in a sophisticated and fashionable way whilst challenging these old-fashioned conventions. As they say, it takes a real man to wear pink – and wearing floral is no exception to this rule.

Back to Black with all that SASS

Since Coco Chanel unveiled her iconic black dress in Paris in 1926, that little black dress has become a clothing essential in every woman’s wardrobe. t is said that it was Coco Chanel in the 1926 that first made the LBD famous.Her design was a simple straight-lined black dress in the garçonne style. For the time period this was fashion radicalism. Prior to that black had only been worn for mourning.  I have a great story I love was when a designer rival at the time passed Chanel on the street and reportedly remarked, “What are you in mourning for, Mademoiselle?” She responded with the fantastic quip, “For you, dear Monsieur.”

No item is more of a blank slate for accessorizing and styling yet completely chic on its own. Bravo, LBD! You've gotten us through some tough times and we don't know what we would do without you. I own more than 15 black dresses, no for real and these are the ones that I actually wear(No idea about the ones up in my attic)

So many of the clothes we buy are grounded in fashion, which means it’s expiration date is subject to fads and trends. The little black dress is something that can stay in your wardrobe for years without looking like a fashion faux pas. Think about it, how many of us would still die to wear the dresses Audrey Hepburn did in Breakfast At Tiffany’s?

Black flatters everyone. One of its best attributes is that black recedes making you look taller and slimmer. The color is also neutral and demure, which means it doesn’t clash with any skin tone.

The trick is to find one that fits your body type. From a plus size little black dress to a petite, there’s one for anyone. If it doesn’t fit perfectly in the store or that great sale find is a little too big, don’t fret, use our secret- go to a tailor. A quick tailor job can make the biggest difference. I practically never find a dress, especially something  I want to splurge on, that fits perfectly. Alterations almost always follow and it’s not expensive.

I spotted this dress on the STALKBUYLOVE website and whilst I did stalk for pretty good darn time ,I might as well thought with much contemplation that if I don’t like it I will return it! But oh well me and returns are a complete rarity, so here we are with this absolutely subtle yet statement making black midi dress with sheer lace panel. 

I dressed them up with favourite jewels from a new discovery ZUBHANA. Sandhya was kind enough to collaborate with me but I did end up buying these statement pieces after all!

An introduction to Men's Lifestyle blog by Plump To Pretty

“Men must understand the need to have style and make an effort to enhance it.” This is often difficult for you college kids that may not have a lot of money or time to worry about it, or quite frankly even care about it. As you evolve into young men, or maybe you’re already there, figure out what type of person you are and express that in your clothing.  Whether you like it or not, your clothing, hair, shoes, etc., are all going to send a message to everyone you encounter. This will not change for the rest of your life. You might as well try to control that message for accuracy.

It’s time we bought back our Menswear style station back to blog. With Yashvardhan leaving the blogging picture with us it became more difficult to put up style posts every week! But we totally agreed to the fact that the guy who has been doing my hair for years now needs to be infront of the lens for his eminent taste in fashion. Trust me he can make trash bag looks good.

“Over the years it has become increasingly more socially acceptable for guys to appreciate and care about this notion of “self-presentation.”  Guys are spending significantly more money on clothes and grooming products now than they ever have in the past. With this cultural change, the unwritten archaic style laws for men’s fashion are being challenged.

Your personal preferences and behaviors can help define your style.  For instance, maybe (like me) you hate tying your shoes.   Incidentally, I have the same rule with underwear. “ I only wear it when I’m at the gym, or running.  I never understood how men stuff their boxers into their jeans like a diaper.  Boy that looks comfortable!”-I’m quoting Sanky here totally!

                                           

Personally, when choosing the vest and how it will be worn, the length of the vest was most important to me.Sizing does vary by company, so when choosing your vest you should wear a blazer that you feel is the most fitting of being worn with a vest. Personally, when wearing a vest outside of my blazer I like the fit to be about the same length-wise or just a bit shorter. Obviously, if you plan to wear the vest under you suit jacket or other blazers you will want the fit to be shorter and possibly not as “bubbled” so take away some of the padded look.

Sanky paired my Koovs vest and cut the armholes to my comfort and depth along with these grey denims from Forever 21.Completed the look with shoes from Knotty Derby for Koovs.

Stay Weird,Stay Organic-An Ancient Living Association

I often rave about beauty items that have impressively long ingredients list with various natural extract and oils on my snapchat. Plum cosmetics has been one such brand I've been consistently using over a year now so is Body Shop and Kama Ayurveda! However I have noticed is that many of my top favorite top beauty items that I turn to without having any problems with my skin actually contain only certain ingredients:

Being a big believer that scents can affect our mood, I often (sometimes even subconsciously) choose scents that are calm and not overpowering.

The best creations happen when you love and believe in something so much it becomes the way of living.

Okay, people. It’s time to start paying attention to what you’re putting on your face. There are some really unhealthy things in the makeup products you use every day… and ingredients like pthalates, parabens and lead that have been linked to cancer, hormonal imbalances and skin problems. 

Kalyani Ji happens to be a mutual friend that I met at a very culturally auspicious space in Hyderabad. They had a small pop up shop at the space carrying their varied products. Now I was extremely apprehensive about trying any skincare really, Let alone buying something i saw for the very first time. I had a major adult acne issue going as I couldn’t cope up much with hyderabad weather and change in food. I picked up their face pack for acne, now I’m not the religious kinds at all when it comes to makeup or skincare. But 2016 I happened to take a resolution less of makeup and more of skincare. I used the pack over my entire face with Amritam rose water from Good Earth and really didn’t feel much of a difference. So I added the mud pack to my face wash every morning and started using as  light scrub.Well there were no visible changes so far!

I re-read the instruction time and again which said it was only to be applied as a spot treatment  but then who cared about the rules.

With the onset of my menses the acne were acting up and I decided to give the spot treatment a try. Voila! The next morning the acne not only visibly shrunk but there was no pus too! I have been religiously using it since then and follow with a C-T-M routine. My skin is visibly clearer but also supple to say the least.

She was inspired by the way Indians lived in the ancient bygone times and made efforts to find out the long lost Ayurvedic secrets of skin, hair and health care. Ancient Living was founded by her in 2010 to cater to eco conscious customers who value organic Ayurvedic products made out of farm fresh herbs and essential oils. The first batch of skin and hair care products were made from farm grown produce utilizing ancient Ayurvedic recipes.
