Get Casual

Do you love tartans?
As in the highlands wear the family tartans in homage to the tradition of the finest Scottish society. Bon chic bon genre version revised with classic air or reinterpreted in the style of the most irrelevant fashion designers
Tartan enters into the autumn and the winter wardrobes and shares the stages with classic menswear fabric like prince of Lea check as well as herringbone and tweed gently unstructured a la Chanel which is now a common heritage no gender.

I have always been asked about what I like to wear on an everyday basis to work and running errands. My only answer to that has been some several basics that I have repeated over years now. For work(Those of you don't know - I teach at a design Institute in Mumbai) I like to pick out separates that can have multiple wears and can be worn multiple ways. For this post I'm sharing an ensemble I have been wearing a lot lately- I love the tartan plaids trend, now peplum has not been a choicest of a trend that I always vouch for. This top is a thrift find from Bandra that has chicest airy sleeves along with a clinched peplum. The intricate embroidery on a very high neck (not sported often by me) makes it appropriate for workspace. I have paired it up with flared denim from Dorothy Perkin and my got to block heels from New Look. I  have literally worn them out ever since I got them and never failed to receive compliments on them. I wish I could buy them back again, 'cos it's falling to pieces now-yes, it's such a staple for me!

Thinking how I would wear the top otherwise? I would pair them up with a denim pencil skirt and wedges or with maxi with slits and low ankle boots.
How do you incorporate trends in your wardrobe, what are your staples Let me know?
See you soon in my next post!

How Can I miss out on thanking my bae Sanky for the epic hair and the pictures, we did foil curls which took over 2 hours to complete but definitely worth the pain.

Will you be your own valentine?

I know my girls you might have chalk it up to another Archies holiday, but there's no point denying that Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to put on a cute outfit and hit the town.

For me, valentine's have had it's hot and very darn cold variations. But this season I help you dress up with the most stunning yet cliché option to dress up. My inspiration was obviously the very pink and not anatomically correct heart. Going full on red is an obvious choice and that's why I opted for this very hot pink dress tailored by me.he dress has a very ladylike feel yet means sexy! I love how I decided to use a nude color lining to cling under the dress to give it that see through effect yet not giving much away.

I really think that How you feel about Valentine’s Day may depend on how you feel about yourself and what kind of relationship you’re in if any.For me, it's complicated but nevertheless not a reason enough not to celebrate ! I wear my own very romantic cutout dress paired with sand dune block heels 'cos I really want to be able to walk the talk. My hair is done is a retro full updo with my fading lavender hair and wearing drop earrings by blur. The makeup essentially plays up with the eyes. I'm wearing pale pink to a gray smokey eye paired with almost MLBB shade.

Whether you're going out on a romantic tinder date or drinking one too many vodka with your girlfriends this dress will absolutely make head turns!Don't forget to love yourself, ladies.

p.s.You know where you need to order the dress from though,I will be updating the same on my blogshop soon.
See you in the next post

PopSicle Lovin'

Yes it become a perpetual thing now where I always tell you how sorry I’m to have-not blogged. I missed writing and talking to you beautiful souls so much. Fret not your Fat Geek is back! And I’ve some great outfits put together, that you can order from me too !
With the wrenching summer heat I put together this very fun outfit. An off shoulder top(cue*hides your flabby arms*) with support ,I don’t think it can get better than this .Even if you are afraid to wear cut-sleeves these styles are your absolute best friend for summer. As for the asymmetrical skirt you see, I just felt too dandy  to wear a black skirt to wear underneath hence draped my loud tropical scarf over my skirt.
Who would have thought I could actually wear this out. As for my feet these colour blocked beauties in block heels are my go-to because of it’s chunky heels(c/o.DONE BY NONE).To add the perfect hint of bling I had my gold hoops from Forever 21 along with the midi rings and watch from Aldo.
On my lips I’m wearing this matter cream I discovered from Miss Claire in shade 18 and added Rimmel’s Undressed right in between.

I've always toyed around with the idea in my head and thought designing is something I could be good at but wasn't sure how to get that ball rolling.

Also we’ve a new photographer on board-Saarang! Hope you like the edits, not too sure? Do let me know what love or hate on my Instagram Account Handle: Plumptopretty or you can tweet at @Golidarzi
You can Also place an order for the crop top with us ,we customise in all sizes.

The Phulkari !

Hello my Paprika sausages!

This perhaps after a long time I'm doing an #OOTD!
Nothing feels better than being home. All these quick trips include one thing in common - a lot of nostalgia running through me over and again.
So another usual shopper's day and hoards of meeting to attend I wanted to keep my outfit simple and really comfortable for a change. Pairing a simple kurta round neck kurta from Cotton Cottage, leggings from Westside and I made the quirky phulkari jacket paired with my Tresmode bow ballets.

I hope you enjoyed the post. You shall hear from me soon !Stay Chic.

Sealing the day with my Girlies and bubbles at FNO

Ahmm today I really don't how to address you guys so lets skip it :P.
Ahhh no I can always come up with cute names no? So Afternoon my Kitty Purries (Okay I did cheat a little, and  if you don't get it I'm not telling you either way)
As soon as I entered the venue I knew there were way  more experienced  bloggers than me ,the event would be covered in oh-so fine maneuver.

But then here I'm not letting you pass on until you hear my side of story.
C'mon everybody got their own version and what's India without all that Jazz (read garam masala). So the event, honestly I do  not understand that gung-ho over the FNO|
.It was just another major sale with sparkling champagne flowing freely ,socialite snobbing each other down and well Bollywood making the paid appearances.
No I'm not making it sound mad I was crazy about being there and we drove # hours straight to get there.
September 5 marks the arrival of Vogue Fashion's Night Out in Mumbai for the first time.
And India's top designers have created keepsake T-shirts and bags for our late-night shopping party taking place at Mumbai's Palladium mall.
Started in September 2009 by Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue US, the event takes place all over the world from Moscow to Mumbai.

I had my own tryst,I met my design heroes Sabyasachi and Anita Dongre and well let's just say for me the whole event paid off(And then ofcourse there was Varun Dhawan*starry eyed* and he looks so much better in person and ll the girls swooning and mobbing him!)
On the other hand whilst writing the post ,I got to know about AYUSHMANN KHURRANA being there (Yes I'm screaming his name) while Me(stupid monger) was hogging at TGIF .I want to stab myself ,well not really .(somebody volunteer,I swear I will use   a blunt knife :P) I did manage to get a picture and it couldn't get better.

As for FNO  tshirts, they  were amazing ! My favourite being the Maharani necklace  t-shirt by Sabyasachi!

Couturiers Sabyasachi and Monisha Jaising made T-shirts and graphic geniuses Manish Arora and Play Clan designed the bags. SO if you have missed out on the FNO ,Join the party now by  ordering your Vogue FNO India merchandise online at Koovs.com

Coming back to what I wore now Delhi FNO's were all ooh-aahs and women are dressed to the T,while in Mumbai it's a little more laid back comfy and distinct fashion.I knew the t-shirts wont even be available in my size ,else I would have totally customised it my way,I decided to make a dress. The cloth if you look carefully has got the stamp prints and was an instant choice. So a day down and there I was with my dress well not so happy about it turned out!But what the heck I was escastic to just wear something I made.Paired it with the chunkies from DONE by NONE to add the pop of colour, really subdued drop earring from YOUSHINE and the owl- clutch from KUNST by lovely Deepika.Take a look at what I wore !

Here with my personal photographer and hairstylist Sanky, however here it's a natural bedhead (with a l'il sprays, mousses and blow dry done by myself) no credits for you today.

The closeup of my makeup before I went all haywire :D

The back -view well , of my dress not my derrière .

And with sabyasachi and anita dongre( I practically dance everytime  I look at these two pictures)

So that's the blabbering for the day ,I know am absolutely late with the post but then it could be a flashback and how many times do you get to read a hormone engrossed post like these? And if you aren’t bored of these picture take a look here : https://www.facebook.com/neelakshi.singh/media_set?set=a.10201219748687232.1073741829.1576537646&type=3
I will see you  guys in my next post very soon well that’s cost I have a lot of posts lined up :D  Haha,no I miss you too much to stay away I swear!

Curves Ahead ( Part 1)

Good morning tweeples see am getting better at keeping promises here ,I’m up and about writing this post.

Plus size clothing is a general term given to clothing proportioned specifically for people around size 12 and up in U.S. "In the fashion industry, plus size is identified as sizes 12-24, super size as sizes 4X-6X and extended size as 7X and up."  Also called Outsize in some countries (predominantly British), this term has been losing favour since the 1990s. A related term for men's plus-size clothing is big and tall (a phrase also used as a trademark in some countries)
and time and again i have defined my social dilemma, honestly this blog was started to voice the “BIG Problems “literally translation into plus size problem. But with time and looking at every single aspiration to be a size 0 looking at my own sister I have to learn to embrace every body type as it.I’m not hating sizing just trying to broaden my perspective

You can check them below my social dilemma and here basics .
Forget what you've been told about dressing to flatter your figure. Every woman is different: from height to curves in different places, there's no one item of clothing that suits all women. The way clothes fit you is the crucial factor. I  have the new rules of plus-size style, including  must-have pieces. Starting this day a sun dress .

I chose this particular piece against all the rules specified. The critics bar you from you from wearing horizontal stripes, also donnt wear anything that's cuffed at the ankle(it'll make you look stout) but if you wear them tastefully It could do you wonders. Don't be afraid to go for clothing with colours and prints, as these things can make such a difference to all the classic pieces.

So yes you guessed it I did wear stripes only in horizontal &vertical floral red print along with ankle strappped sandals in white pairing up with a glossy black  slingbag .I had this nautical vibe that explains the curls the feline liner and the swimming pool.Extremely sorry for my horrid expressions I promise I shall work on them.
Dress: Thrifted (I got this for 350 bucks straight, hell yeah!)
Strappy Heels: Tresmode
Sling Bag: Youshine

I'm trying all these new ideas not only to express myself but also to reach out to people who would relate to me without sizings being a problem.
I will see you soon in my next post till then

OOTD LFW Day 2

Holla my marshmellows

This is going to be one of the quickie. Finally my shifting back to Mumbai campus did pay off and well obviously there's a designer Sailex and our lovely jess who personally assists him, for the passes to Lakme Fashion Week.
Since it was my very first time here,I really wanted to wear something different and not end up looking frumpy. So here's what I decided ,I paired my Zara white lace jacket with high waisted  floral pants.Underneath am wearing my own design its a beaded scalloped top with a bodysuit ofcourse.(The best part its entirely handmade ).
I had zero jwellery and added a simple winged liner using Mac's Blacktrack and Maybelline Stay with me coral.
Ironic how less of a makeup we end up wearing at such things. From all my past experience I knew I cudn't afford to wear stilettos and strut all day long so well wedges were the obvious choice and I colourblocked them with this from Done by None.

Yes that's all going to be for my OOTD post here.Catch all the action and all photographs that don't make it to  the blog here:Plump to Pretty facebook page.
Please let me  know how did you like it /or even if you hate it? I will see you soon in my next post till then

p.s.I have to credit this to my special photographer Momma :)

First OOTD Post

Hellow my cupcakes,
Moving on to my first OOTD Post, I’m super excited about this second collaboration. Also I have been wanting to introduce my lovely readers to  our in-house model Prachi. Since the blog is about styles also that does not preach a size we love to shift our focus to the our counterparts-the not-so perfect bod in comparison to our magazine spreads. This OOTD is about petite size.
Prachi is a size 2 and hence the obvious choice whereas I’m a size 16 but we shall be back to that with our "Ultimate guide to Plus size dressing" in a later post.
So this OOTD is a thumbs up on how we can wear two clashing trends together-sequin and animal prints. What better to wear it out in the room to beat the gloomy rain with all that jazz.
For inspiration, look to D&G, which was all over the trend in their spring/summer show, teaming gingham with florals in an unlikely but successful blend.
How to wear?
·        Try on crazily different prints - mix aztec with animal prints, tribal with stripes or spots, graphic with tropical or for a more print-monochromatic look change up to floral with floral or dot with dots.
·        Wear your spot shirt with tropical printed skirt and go loud (think bright) on accessories for an 'all eyeballs on me' look
·        Team a printed dress with animal print bag and/or shoe or play it safe with the following looks:
- wear bright colour clothing and clash the print through your accessories.
- mix muted prints and base colours (like black, dusky pink or beige) and layer them together. Think of wearing a block coloured tee with printed pants and animal print shoe and throw in a jacket  .
·        No matter how you choose to wear the look (subtle or bold) keep the colors in the same family or mood. No matter how different your patterns, as long as the colors match, you're good to go.

Its time to break the old rules and make new ones. So throw out your rules book which says anything about not mixing the prints, rummage through your wardrobe to find the perfect print clashing pieces and make a statement.

*Yet again a picture heavy Post*

Products used :

·        For the face I used Garnier BB Cream as a base, concealing dark circles and some discoloration with Kryolan Supracolour concealer.
·        I avoided any pressed powder because I wanted a dewy finish.
·        For the eyes: I used kohl to tight lining and on the water liner.
Placed a generous amount of eyeshadow in the shade of  from Kryolan.
·        Cutting a crease using shimmery brown shadow from Nyx Trio Pallette.
·        And used generous amount of mascara from Rimmel Scandalous eyes and demi lashes.
·        For the lips I used Maybelline Matte super stay 16-hr lipstick in the shade Infinitely Fuschia.

Outfit:
·        I chose a small print as it could be a versatile piece to work with. The top was was too over sized for her  hence a good way to style it was with a crop top which worked well with our high-waisted brown sequin skirt.I have designed the skirt using tulle, polyester and net, and some amazing sequin, sourced by my aunt on her trip to Paris.
The wedges are an absolute fit to adding the perfect length and colour to our neutral outfit. Also to get that polished look I added a tan belt, that also kept the skirt in place :P
·        The accessories are minimum just added a statement ring and that classic small satchel with gold rim.
