Peaches & Sequins

Hello my  gorgeous devis,

I haven't got out of the whole festival vibe yet! This post has special, reason being you can actually pre-order this outfit from me. I came up with this concept of tulip pants combined with  palazzo style to be paired up with sequinned tunic which sums a perfectly for  festivities. One can accessorize it heavily or downplay it by just wearing statement earrings like I have.

For the post I'm wearing Victorian pearl chandelier earrings by Aquamarine and stiletto s are from Tresmode .My face is heavily and badly contoured  by myself, I'm learning really! I did not want to shy away from posting it but I'm practising I promise.

The Mad Hair Scientist gave me a sleek middle part and gave me a low neck textured pony to show the  back ,I personally think it helps you show your earrings so much better and even more the back designs. I had like you to the best judge of this outfit and if you like it ANYBODY can pre-order it their size.

The Lingering Spirit of LBD's

Hello cuties,

A little update on my personal life. I'm finally back to home base and working as a full-time blogger along with pursuing my hobby as an art curator to an amazing art gallery. It's the secret project that I've been working all his while now. This is the first time ever that Navi Mumbai has an art Gallery with some really interesting paintings and sculptures. Coming back to the post I've done this really fun pairing perfect for your girls evening out. Yes! Do not experiment with this look on early date night(honestly later putting even kohl is fancy) - Yellow heels and double buns aren't too viable with your Bae really. If you do try ,let me know :P

I'm wearing this lovely hand-embroidered tunic dress that is a typically straight cut ,an elongated V-neck, and short sleeves. This silhouette is definitely one that you wouldn't find me adorning often. But this dress made it to my wardrobe 'cos it's intricate hand embroidery  and well pockets. It's wouldn't be crazy to say that I'm obsessed with dresses that come along pockets. The curls are done using a straightener by Sanky to give tousled waves to my hair and added to bun after braiding my bangs on the either side. The dress is by Lucky, a true blue American iconic brand.

For makeup, I've used burgundy as a base from my Coastal Scents palette and added Matt Hung and Matt Grey from The balm "Meet the Mattes" palette. I'm wearing lashes by Kryolan and the glue is the standard adhesive by DUO in black. On my lips I'm wearing a Rimmel Cream sheen formula lip colour in nude(can't recall the exact shade). My shoes are on this website we had like with the new surge of e-comm shopping Done By None which I absolutely loved. Sadly it doesn't do business anymore!

So this was my very casual boho look in one of my infinite LBD. How many do you guys own ,I know I can never get enough of them!

Clash of prints for Bhai dooj

Greetings my lovely readers

There quite a few mythological stories associated with celebrating Bhai Dooj.For people new to this festival and my friends across the globe reading this,it is similar to Raksha Bandhan.For me this year I haven't really left any occasion to get decked up.

For my today's outfit, I decided to pair up my three separate to make the perfect coordinate. I haven't worn lehenga since ages forget about lehenga choli! But it was the time I took the plunge irst with Sabya lehenga and now with this outfit to show my tummy rolls. I have almost dreaded this for too long to show my stomach that comes with its own stripes and stretch marks. But then again not everything  is perfect and as photoshopped  as the magazine. I felt the exact need to truly accept body positivism and this would my first stint baring my midriff! My needs for traditional wear arises not from occasion to wear them but from the occasional bouts of confidence cycles I have! And getting ethnic wear in my size has always been a trouble, though my love for sarees is undeniable I love my share of kurtis and lehengas but Alas! the limited availability and the pricing put me off . So  whenever I do decide to wear traditional I do end up making something myself with the indulgent dose of inspirations around.(Talk about putting design degree to some use).

The choli is actually a jamawar silk blouse that I wear with most of my sarees in and out. The floral skirt is a cheap bargain I got at one of the fleas in Hyderabad and the dupatta is  borrowed from my mother's closet.

The whole outfits even though has a variety  of prints, textures, and embroideries they seem to work well together with this beautiful meenakari work statement neck piece and earrings. I absolutely love the pieces and would ideally wear just one of them !The jewelry is courtesy of Aquamarine ,I got them from the turner road store in Bandra. Santosh and Sheetal have definitely been so creative with the silver jewelry in terms of the ideation to the finish of the entire product. I definitely can't wait to go back!

A Fat Girl's Ode to Sabya- "A Dark Diwali"

They say imitation is the best form of flattery, I do not believe so! But this Diwali shopping or for that over a decade I’ve been through rejections from designer/shopkeeper or for that matter even that local darzi that refuses to stitch cos ”Madam kapda bahut Lagega and Time bhi”! Yup That’s the answer I”ve heard over a decade now and it never seems to sound any less painful.

Being a designer I wanted to emote my way through a dress that would imitate A bigwig and let me feel the way every girl does in her designer outfits. I only own probably a Masaba cos Saree need no size!

I went out to source my cloth and well get inspired from the Royal Darling Designer Sabyasachi! Yup, I did it! Sorry if I offend any of you Sabya fans or for that matter Sabyasachi too, but I just wanted to feel like    a normal person (cos being FAT is not normal)  trying  to put her best foot forward.

Sabyasachi and Manish Arora have been my design heroes for decades now and truly ate and breathe design since I was 12!

                                                       

                      

Coming to my post I have paired up two dupattas over my lehenga and clinched it with a metal belt.The rice beads clutch is from my mother's wardrobe.

The gorgeous outfit is perfectly paired with these silver earrings polished in antique gold from AQUAMARINE. The lehenga is forest lush green with sequin and antique matter gold work and the Lehenga skirt is also made with the same sequins .Although I do not wear a dupatta along but to emote Sabyasachi I paired two. The hair is a sizeable pouf that is obviously done by THE MAD HAIR SCIENTIST. I’m Wearing wedges  underneath from Forever21 to be comfortable, the skirt alone weighs 8 kgs.

Talking about my fabulous earrings from Aquamarine they are definitely a head turner. Though quite heavy they are a sure shot way to fetch genuine compliments this Diwali season. The brand has panned out to COLABA,LOKHANDWALA,BREACH CANDY And The very new one being in Delhi’s Khan market. The team is headed by Designer Santosh Bathija. They have a piece for every taste and every budget.

My Dhanteras Outfit in Collaboration with Aquamarine Jewellery

Dhanteras is the first day of the Indian Diwali and Nepalese Tihar Festival.  and is celebrated with much enthusiasm buying gold ,silver copper or for that matter even utensils.

I bought jewels from Aquamarine which will last me this festive season.

I paired my Navy Blue Dhakai Jamdani with a Free people top with with batik and clamp dye technique and has simple hand embroidered borders all over. The cut is absolutely lovely and I wore it over a saree to make myself comfortable eff! So not only my sari was traditional but was comfortable as heck.

My neckpiece is from AQUAMARINE and elaborate hairpiece and earring although in German silver are a thrift store find. Though Aquamarine doesn't need any introduction really with all the celebrity love, I'm very excited to tell you it has popped a new store in Delhi too! It is definitely my go to store for Fashionable Semiprecious jewellery like Earrings, Necklaces, Rings, Pendants, Bracelets, Cuffs, Anklets, Scarfs, Pendant Sets, Mang Tikas, Bangles, Fashion Jewelry, and other latest accessories.

Throwback thunder-Embroidered Denim Jacket

While there is no doubt about the fact that Denims are certainly a year-round trend, fall seems to be denim's biggest season. With this nip in the air, you want to pack up on something that you can easily layer and layer off with the transition in climate.

Like most of the fashion trends we've seen in the last few months, fall is bringing back some old favorites, and that goes for the denim category too. Some of the trends have such a throwback feel to them that you might actually be turned off at first.

So the second item that I’m currently covering from my trend throwback list today is Embroidered denim jackets. It’s just the right piece you want to slip in over your flared denim.(which I wrote about in my last piece, you might want to read it here.)

or over that cami dress you want to take from your shopping trip to your pub crawl.

I have hated this jacket for years for the embroidery and now when I spy this in my wardrobe I can’t seem to get over ,because of it’s very prominent presence on the ramp. Yes, this is my perfect love-hate relationship with the jacket.

The embroidered jackets, yes they are definitely here to stay this fall and yup the embroidery extends beyond jeans. The Fall 2016 runways had us believe that denim jackets can be fun, playful, and decorative in some way. If you are apprehensive about a permanently embroidered one do stock up on some fun pins, badges, and brooches to embellish them.

I wore an Old Navy dress that I wore to the last season of Lakme SS’16 with my Adidas Neo Hi-tops.My hair is obviously done by the TMHS in a peculiar cornrow braid on one side and waved on the other. Besides the very sporty feel of the outfit, I’ve added a blue-purple very mermaid-esque feel on my eyes and some Bodyshop lip & cheek tint on my lips and cheeks ofcourse!
I absolutely;y adore this skater dress because of the fit and the way it falls on my body because of the drape ability.

Of Versatility

Time and again everybody's favorite combination has been the covetable white shirt and denim.We saw Masaba sporting some on Day 3 at the AFW happening currently. They call it Classic, endlessly versatile and affordable. We have seen the runway's take on it and the Bollywood reel to real's life take on it.The white shirt was supposedly meant to be an undergarment, for many years really only the cuffs and collars were visible(and we are talking about a whole lot of the 1800s).

I don't really vouch for a particular piece to make me happy in the head, let alone a white shirt. But I absolutely admire how a simple button down could evocate you. For me white is just related to auspicious, comfort and freshness, whenever I adorn white I tend to feel it if not all the feelings at once!

Coming back to my post, I'm wearing a shirtdress (yup I will do a separate post dedicated to WHITE SHIRTS) and because I did not want to limit the possibility of wearing it just as a dress ,I paired it with my Dorothy Perkins Wide legged Bootcut Denims in a dark wash and of course my Tresmode Peeptoes I tend to pick up a ton of dresses from Colaba Causeway, it's literally my sacred space.

If you guys would like to know where to find such pieces, ping me or let me know I shall do a full-fledged piece.The dress needlessly to say can be worn on its own with bohemian tie up sandals or with shorts and gladiator flats.

We tried a fun eye color look with navy and turquoise eyeshadow from Sephora that I had been meaning to test out for a while. Now while the pigment of the trio is great the sparkle have major fallout and never show up if you blend them, so if you have this in your vanity make sure you add it to your lids at the end but before the foundation. And PAT!
